yarn

wool beanie
This is my new favorite beanie. I just love all the pretty colors in the yarn! I finished it up a couple of weeks ago and am now making a point to posting it. It's actually the first beanie I knit from a pattern. I am just now really getting in to knitting. I use to prefer crochet because it was easier for me to understand and read patterns but this "knitting stuff" seems to make sense to me now. I actually learned to knit before I learned to crochet. I taught myself how to do both in the fourth grade. I was ten years old. More on that at another time. It's kind of a funny story.

Next week I'll post pictures of the quilt I made my Mother for her birthday. It is one of my favorite quilts. I would love to make one fore myself.

New Wave Quilt

I finished this colorful quilt in January am just now getting around to posting it. It's made with Anna Maria Horners super soft voile. I used Elizabeth Hartman's New Wave Pattern. It pieced together so easy. I would definitely create a quilt with this pattern again.

Im really trying to post more of my projects. Hopefully this blog will see lots more of my little creations in the near future.

Thrifty find

I really need to post some more of my thrift store finds. I find so many goodies at the local thrift store.
On Thursday I snatched this lovely blouse. It's one of my new favorites. I paired it with my dark blue levis and my adorable heels I bought in Spain.

Below are a few photos I took in my messy room. Or should I say "lived in"

Oh I got a hair cut today. Yay for no more split ends. As you can see from the photos above my hair isn't much shorter but it feels so healthy!

Different

Photography is so different from what it use to be.

It's instant.
No more waiting to see if you were shooting with the correct settings.
I mean now you can know take a hundred pictures of the same thing and delete 99 of them and just keep your favorite.
Years ago that would have been completely absurd. No one is going to waist 100 "film" shots on simple picture.
And don't even get me started on the ability we have to manipulate and edit photos.
I think thats why I love old black and white photos. They are so raw. So real.

Anywho yesterday I was just messing around with an old camera. I didn't have any film in it but I wanted to see how it felt to take pictures with it. So strange. Im not use to holding a camera so far from my face.

Below are some pictures of me and the Kodak Duaflex IV

Congratulations Joel and Mindy

I went to the most lovely Spring Wedding yesterday. Our dear friends Mindy and Joel tied the knot. It was simply sweet. Please enjoy some of the photos I snapped. Oh and I don't know why the portrait shots are so pixelated but the landscape ones are fine. Just click the photo for a better view.DSC_0119DSC_0129DSC_0164DSC_0169DSC_0212DSC_0220DSC_0264DSC_0268 DSC_0280DSC_0333DSC_0388 I love the picture below of Mindy talking to her sister Bree. Life these days

Uh oh... Blogger has finally forced me to switch over to there new home page layout. I still need to figure out how to use the darn thing. I'm sure its ten times better then the old one. Anyways Iv'e been pretty busy these days. Between school, work, and other weekly tasks I haven't done too much. When I do get free time I usually find myself wanting to create. So this means somethings will be baked, knitted, crocheted, or sewed. I also absolutely love to read and that of course consumes my time as well. Currently I have way way too many books. DSC_0002 Quite a few of those are knitting, sewing, or crochet books. I find the best way I learn is by teaching myself through books. Thats how I learned to knit and crochet. The Library is a fantastic resource for such books. They have a ton of craft books. DSC_0007 I finished the above project last week. It turned out lovely. I must take some pictures of me wearing it.DSC_0021 I made some rosemary shortbread cookies. Goodness I just love Rosemary. I'm always trying to bake with it. They turned out wonderfully delicious. DSC_0007 Random observation of the week. I wear a whole lot of florals. I mean my entire wardrobe is pretty much made of all things lacy, ruffly, floral and few polka dots for good measure. I am such a girl... Happy Sunday xo -esther
