I made this berry cake yesterday for my sister's birthday but we didn't get to enjoy it til today.
I was having some serious issues with the frosting so the cake didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it too. I tried to "fix" the frosting this morning but still had no luck. I wanted it to be light and fluffy but it was pretty dense... There wasn't a way to save it and I really didn't want to start from scratch again. I really do love decorating cakes but left this one pretty simple because of my "frosting" frustration. Oh well, next time.

Coryn actually isn't a big dessert person but what's a birthday without a slice of cake and candles to blow out. Right?

Well now im off to look at some sewing patterns. There are so many things I want to make. I'll definitely post pictures of whatever I decide to sew up next.

It doesn't get much cuter then that! And let me tell you, my friends sure made some scrumptious cupcakes. I had two! Thank you very much...


Sweet little Archer is the cutest thing. While I was holding the little babe Amanda snapped some of the cutest photos of him this evening. He is already such a Ham.
His little cheeks are simply irresistible.

What a lovely summer evening. It was spent with my sister and some dear friends. We are finally getting back into the swing of things. I have been home for 2 weeks now and my sister not even 2 days. I can't wait to do all sorts of summery things together before we both head back to school. Eeeeksss. I'm not to excited about that. But you do what you got to do. I am so thankful that God blessed me with thee most wonderful summer to get me through the school year.

Spent some time with this little beau today. She starts college this fall. I can hardly believe it. This whole getting old thing is awfully strange.

My sister comes home tomorrow! I'm thrilled. I haven't seen her in 3 months and look forward to hugging and kissing her. Gah I'm pretty darn excited.

eat see hear

Photos from last Saturday's Eat See Hear in Long Beach. My parents and I went to "hear" the band my brother plays the guitar for. It was really nice to see spend some time with my mom and dad while watching David.



Tomorrow I plan on sorting through some sewing patterns. I am longing to sew something lovely but as of late I have been busy getting rid of all the stuff I don't use anymore. It's taking far too long but is extremely necessary considering I don't use or wear half the stuff in my closet.

Spent part of the day celebrating my cousins 20th birthday. It was great getting to catch up with all the girl cousins! I love their company.

I think I am Finally over the jet lag. Yesterday was the first time I didn't fall asleep around 9PM. Pretty much all last week I wanted to go to bed at seven but would make myself stay up til at least nine. Around 1 AM I would wake up with the energy to start my day and would literally force myself to go back to sleep which is really hard when your body seems to think its day time. I would try and get a few more hours in but by around 4 in the morning I just had to get up. So I started taking early morning walks while the house was sleeping.
A few days ago I enjoyed this cake as I watched the sunrise. There isn't anything wrong with cake a little bit before six in the morning, right? It was the first thing I baked all summer and I totally butchered the frosting. It was suppose to be light and fluffy but it was quite dense. At least it was still delicious. I really need to bake some more seeing that I start school soon and I haven't practiced my trade during my time off...

Goodness there is so much I want to do before I head back to school. I feel as if summer is slipping through my fingers. I need more time. I ALWAYS need more time. Perhaps I just need to manage the time I do have a little better.

That will be new prayer request.

I pray that I can manage my time wisely.
