knitting

Iv'e got knitting on the brain. Lately I've been working on baby gifts for all my friends who are expecting. Looks like everyone is having boys. The gift making has been a bit of a challenge because I naturally gravitate towards making girly things. I'm sure that's pretty obvious by the content of this blog. I guess I'll just have to be a little more creative.

Yesterday I finished the sweet scalloped beanie. It's a simple and quick knit that doesn't require much thinking. I love the colors of the yarn and am happy with the results.scalloped beaniescalloped beanie

mountains

Yesterday I got to spend some time knitting outside while looking at the pretty blue mountains. It was lovely. The weather was cool and windy, such a difference from back home. I have been doing quite a bit of knitting on this trip. So far Iv'e made two little beanies with the scrap yarn I have from other projects. I wish I had some larger skeins to work on some bigger projects but I do like that these baby projects knit up so quick. I'll share photos soon enough but today I leave you with mountain photos.

Mammoth

I'm having a lovely time with my family in Mammoth. Today my sister and I got to see Brandi Carlile perform at a outdoor wine festival! Her band was wonderful. It was great getting to listen to her at such a beautiful venue. Below are a few photos from the festival.DSC_0057DSC_0068DSC_0083DSC_0087
^as you can see from the photos, we were extremely close to the stage :)

Hope your Saturday was as lovely as mine.

WANDERLUST

I seem to always have a desire to travel and these days the desire is mighty strong. Sometimes I find myself getting restless in the everyday routine of my American life. I continue to remind myself that the ability to travel is a luxury.

I remember the first time I visited another country. I was seven years old and the trip greatly impacted me. It was there that I realized that not everyone lived, spoke, ate, and thought like me. From then on my desire to visit places foreign to me grew. I wanted to meet people, try different cuisines, and learn about other cultures. Luckily I have been able to do a bit of that here and there. Such a blessing each of those experiences have been for me. Whenever the wanderlust comes I can't help but look through pictures and recall the beautiful memories I have made abroad. Oh how these photos make me happy!

Now i'm off to dream about someplace lovely.

Oh and I have forgot to mention that tomorrow the family and I will be heading out on a little vacation. We aren't going out of the country or out of state for that matter but I don't care i'm absolutely thrilled. I plan on documenting our vacation so be sure to check back if your interested. xoxo

more pants

I hope I'm not boring you with more reversible baby pants. I just think they are the cutest. Yesterday I made a little boy pair. I'm really loving stripes these days. It's a lot more difficult for me to think of cute boy clothes then it is for girls. I have so many ideas for baby girls but I always get stumped with fabrics and patterns for boys. For the pants I used embroidery floss to add special detail to the back. I thought they needed a little something and am really happy with the results.baby!hand stichedreversible pants

baby pants

I made the sweetest pair of baby pants with the fabric I bought Tuesday. I used a little of my cherished liberty of fabric. Gosh I love the liberty prints. If only I could go to Liberty's whenever I pleased. It was one of my favorite stores in London. Michael Levine has a decent selection of the prints but I have such a hard time spending money on it when it cost 38 dollars a yard. The best part of the pants is they are reversible. Lovely, right? Clearly I have babies on my mind. I just can't stop making precious baby clothes.
Be back soon with some boy clothes!
