Four Icons

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved watching old movies. Because of that I have developed a love for these beautiful actors and just about anything vintage. I just adore old Hollywood glamour. It is so inspiring. If I could dress like them everyday I would. Maybe if I had a few more hours in my day to sew up some forties/fifties styled dresses I could or if I had more money to buy real vintage.
So here are some of my favorite starlets.

Judy Garland
Growing up the Wizard of Oz was one of my favorite movies. I thought she was amazing and always wanted to sing like her.

Judy with Shirley Temple and Mickey Rooney. I loved when she starred in movies with Mickey. They were my favorite in Babes in Arms. I just thought Mickey was so cute. I remember telling my second grade teacher that Judy and Mickey were my favorite actors. I wasn't your average little kid. haha

So cute!

Marilyn Monroe

I just think Marilyn is adorable. Although she took a fair share of risque pictures she always looked so innocent. I love her style. Her classic cat eye eyeliner is my favorite.

Elizabeth Taylor
yet another pretty starlet.

Last but definitely not least

Audrey Hepburn
She was so elegant and had so much poise.

After looking at those pretty pictures I am so inspired.I want to start sewing a pretty dress soon. I have these two patterns.

I don't know which one I will choose. I really like the Vogue dress but I am thinking the Butterick one might be easier. I will make both eventually. Now i just need to pick a pretty fabric.
Ohhh, I really really want a record player.

A pretty pink one would be nice. Or just an old one to go by my pretty phone.

Well that's all for tonight.

Cozy

This morning I did not want to get out of bed. All I wanted to do was listen to the rain drops and lay in my warm bed. But then I woke up to reality and quickly realized I had stuff to do.
I had to run out and get Mimi dog food because last night the ants got to it. We usually don't get ants til summer. I guess they are coming in to our house because of the rain. yuck. I wasn't happy I don't have extra money to spend dog food. Ugh those darn ants.

Anyways I am awaiting the beautiful sunny days that always come after a big storm. I think everything looks so much more pretty after a good rain. My favorite part is being able to look at the mountains covered in snow. I'm getting giddy just writing about it. David, Coryn, Alyse and I are planning another snow trip. This time there will actually be snow unlike this time.

This is how the mountains looked after the last storm in early December. It was so pretty.

This is how they looked last week. We had a rather warm winter which melted almost all the snow. I am sure they are full of snow now. Can't wait to see them.

Tornado Warning?

Seriously. In LA county? So I just got home and heard that there could possible be a tornado in Long Beach. Crazy.
This entire day has been sort of crazy.
I went to school today knowing that one of my classes would not be meeting. So woohoo that meant I didn't have to be on campus til one. I hopped on the ten freeway and headed towards school. It was pouring rain making driving not so fun. Then when I get to school I spend fifteen minutes looking for a parking spot and then I took the long walk to my class. (it seemed ten times longer in the pouring rain) But I am so glad I have rain boots it makes walking in the rain so much easier. I loved that I didn't have to worry about stepping in puddles. Okay so when I got my class I found out it was canceled too. Boy was I mad. I had came to school for absolutely nothing. I should have read my syllabus. I only knew about one of the classes being canceled. On the walk back to my car I got completely soaked. Okay that's an exaggeration. My jeans got soaked. Wet jeans are so uncomfortable. When I got back on the freeway the lightning must have struck closely to where I was because for a half a second it was so bright that I couldn't see. It happened the same time as the thunder which means it was close.

I actually love storms. But I can't stand them when I am out and about trying to get things done.
I just love the drip drop and pitter patter of the rain. I like to be cozy in my house watching the rain drip down the windows.

Here is a picture of pretty Jackie in our pretty fake rain.

all day

Morning through night I sewed sewed sewed. It was so much fun.Amber worked hard on her purse and we both made cute mushroom pin cushions.

I love creating new things. I am still brain storming on things to make and sell. Ohh I just loved hearing the rain outside while I sewed. I don't think it will be so nice when I have to walk fifteen minutes to my class tomorrow. Good thing I bought some rain boots.

busy

I feels like ages since my last post. I have been busy busy busy doing everything from cleaning, babysitting, and sewing. I had a great weekend but I am so exhausted. Thank goodness have no school tomorrow. I'm going each my dear friend Amber how to sew. I think she is going to be a natural. Anyway I am feeling super creative. Hopefully I will make some cute stuff to sell on etsy. I am still working on making products before I get my account up and running. I will leave you with this lovely illustration. I want it in my room. So pretty.

SEW pretty

Today I ditched school. I know. I know. Shame on me. Well it wasn't that bad because one of my classes was already canceled so I just ended up missing my world of dance class. I am just praying the teacher didn't assign and homework.

Anyway let me tell you where I went. I had an amazing time at Road to California (a quilting show/convention that was held at the Ontario Convention Center) It was so much fun. There were so many pretty things. I got a bunch of pretty fabric to sew with and I can't hardly wait to get started. But I making myself finish all my math homework before I even break out the sewing machine. : [

Not only did they have fabric and quilt patterns but they had all sorts of pretty things. I loved all the sweet ribbons, rick rack, beads, and other cute things. I seriously want it all. I can't even imagine all the things I could make with it. Oh if money only grew on trees...

They had beautiful vintage table cloths. These pretty much made my day. I loved them all. I bought one for my dear mother.

Here is a picture of some of our little group in one of the booths.

O and then we went to Lucille's for dinner. It was so delicious. The biscuits with apple butter are my favorite.

So on the agenda for tomorrow.
math.
work.
sewing.
I hope I have time for all three.
I should probably squeeze cleaning my room in there too.

Night.

Baby's grown up

Isn't she pretty. She is all grown up. I still have mixed feelings about growing up. When I was young I never wanted to get older. But then one day I realized I need to be thankful for every new day, every year of life that I am blessed with. You can't live in the past no matter how much you want to. Everyone gets older. I'm now okay with growing up as long as I can remember the past. That's why I write so much. To remember today and just let everything im feeling out. Out of my head on to the paper. Same with pictures. I love to document today with pretty pictures. They can really take you back. You can look at one picture and hundreds of memories flood into your mind.

but anways back to little sister. Here is one of her senior pictures that my wonderful neighbor/friend took. I think mis padres are going to use this picture and the following two for my sister's dedication page. Cuteness.

These pictures are only distant memories now.
Oh if I could only be five again.

I wish I could remember a little bit more. But I thank God for all the childhood pictures I have. They always make me smile.
